Meet the owner

As featured in Aqua Bound’s Sea Kayaking Maine’s Stonington Archipelago: “The Stonington Archipelago is a sea kayaker’s playground off the coast of Maine. This grouping of about 70 islands offers a ton to see and do from wildlife viewing to camping to learning about the history of this unique area. To learn more about this sea kayaking destination, we caught up with Will Steinharter, co-owner of Osprey’s Echo Sea Kayaking. paddler Reviews

"Best Kayak Tour ever! Surrounded by seals and their pups taking a peek at us. Big bald eagle on top of a tree next to its nest wishing us a safe voyage!! Acrobatic osprey diving for their dinners! Fish called pogies jumping out of the water to avoid the appetite of seals! Lots of nature drama, fun conversation, and natural beauty! Calm waters. Felt safe the whole time. Huge rainbow over the boats in the harbor juxtaposed to a fabulous sunset of rich warm colors! Truly a magical experience! 😊"

Seeing the incredible wildlife and breathtaking scenery made for a dream day, and I can’t wait to go again soon. If you have a disability, I highly recommend reaching out to see how they can help create an unforgettable adventure for you."

"Best thing we did in Maine. Our family of four – my husband, myself and our two kids (ages 11 and 16) – took a 2 hour sunset kayak tour with Will at Osprey’s Echo. It was hands down the most amazing thing we did while in Maine! Will was a terrific instructor, made us all feel at ease on the water.“

"I've been paddling for 15 years. Best paddle ever. Our guide was informative, sharing information about the geology and history of the islands. Once we got out into the outer islands, it was obvious why one needs as guide. He knew the fantastic beaches to check out, swim or just for lunch. And keep us alert to the boat traffic."

"Went for a sunset paddle and am still marveling at the beauty of this part of Maine. We were treated to a wonderful tour, complete with wildlife - osprey, a bald eagle, seabirds, and seals! Will was an amazing guide, offering facts about the region and armed with knowledge that allowed him to answer our many questions. I felt safe and secure in the kayak, and the paddle itself was just the right amount of challenging. And getting welcomed by Surrey and Gimli made it that much better. This is an incredible way to see Maine and with lovely people. SO happy I ventured out!"
